Rainbow Snippets #14

I’ve joined the Rainbow Snippets group on Facebook. From their description: “Rainbow Snippets is a group for LGBTQ+ authors, readers, and bloggers to gather once a week to share six sentences from a work of fiction–a WIP or a finished work or even a 6-sentence book recommendation (no spoilers please!).” Pretty cool, eh? Today I’m giving a snippet from my WiP, titled To Love and To Cherish, which is spin-off from ’Til Death Do Us Part (now available at JMS Books).

Nash’s engagement was broken two weeks before his wedding in ’Til Death Do Us Part. He’s couch-surfing at his best friend Harley’s, and has been set up on a blind date, whom he’s about to meet in this scene. This is told from Nash’s 3rd-person POV:

Nash pushed open the heavy as fuck door of the Purple Café. Despite the lighting, he could see that only one man at the bar wore a cobalt-blue sweater over a white dress shirt. That was the description Nash had been given, so he straightened his shoulders, mumbled, “Fuck it,” and strode over to get the man’s attention and introduce himself.

“Hi, you must be Edward… I’m Nash.”

Edward was tall, had dark blond hair, and an oval face with a hint of scruff along the jawline. He also had deep blue eyes exuding more than a hint of disappointment when he turned and noticed Nash.

To Love and To Cherish is a WiP with a goal of at least 60k words. It is a spin-off to ’Til Death Do Us Part, but will absolutely stand on its own.
