I came across this list of writing prompts for May, 2017 on the Writer’s Write page and thought I’d give it a whirl. I’m going to try for a series of drabbles (precisely 100-word scenes) that will flow together featuring the characters from my Adventures with Harrison and Mason flash fiction story scenes.
May 25, 2017 — A Toy
(Mason’s 3rd-person POV)
“Also, Gramps said you gave him too much money for just the movie and mini-golf, so he said we could go to the store and buy a toy. I got a Groot. It’s really cool.” Jaxon bounced with excitement and reached for Mason’s hand. “Come on, it’s in the kitchen. I’ll show you.”
“Hold on a bit.” Mason patted the cushion next to him on the sofa. “Daddy’s talking to Gramps. Let’s give them a few more minutes before joining them.”
“’Cause we want Gramps to come live with us, right?”
Mason nodded. “You’d like that?”
“Yeah. I love Gramps.”
To be continued tomorrow using ‘congrats.’
All the drabbles in this series using the May, 2017 prompts can be found here (note: to read them in order, you’ll need to scroll to the bottom of the category list and read up from there).
I don’t think Gramps has a chance now. Three family members want him to move in with them. He might as well start packing at once 🙂
And btw: I’m getting sad that May is soon over. No more adorbs Harrison, Mason, and Jaxon stories. *sob*
Aw, it won’t be over altogether. Just won’t be a daily hit. They’ll still feature prominently in the regular Flash Fiction Friday. 😁 (and who knows, maybe Gramps will become a regular in their scenes?)
I’ll hold you to that! 😀
Heheheh…as long as you don’t mind letting Ed and Joe take precedence in FFF for a while toward the end of June when their 2nd edition comes out.
Yeah, I’m really gonna mind that…because you know I detest Ed and Joe. Boring, awful characters. Terrible book. Especially the new version. Hate it. Don’t feature them, just don’t do it!! 😉
(And in case I wasn’t obvious enough – that was a joke! <3 )
LOL. Don’t worry, I picked up on the sarcasm.
Phew! 😀
But, what if he’s a stubborn old cuss and doesn’t want to feel like he’s in the way?
He might be. But I bet he won’t be able to resist the pleading eyes of young Jaxon! 😀
LOL. Sounds like you know me. Not sure how I’m going to work “congrats” into a scene, though. 😏
“Congrats, you out-stubborned Gramps” when Jaxon’s convinced Gramps to move in with them? 😀
Hahahaha! Great minds think alike. I was leaning in that direction. I want to totally steal that line now! ♡
Steal away, my friend. Or rather: consider it a gift <3
