Treadmill Week 57 & What I #amreading – Regency Rogues Box Set by Ruby Moone

Treadmill Goals:

Get on the treadmill (or equivalent exercise) daily
Pace is fine at 30 min/mile, although I may up it on occasion
Time range between 30 minutes and 1 hour per day
Distance 1-2 miles per day
Read the chosen book, which I won’t allow myself to read outside of my treadmill time, hopefully motivating me to reach or exceed the above goals (exception…at the end of the week where a book is highlighted, I will finish it off-treadmill so I can feature something new the next week)

Starting with the first book in the box set: Fallen, then The Heat of the Moment, and the beginning of The Wrong Kind of Angel. I’ll have to finish the rest off-treadmill!

My favorite lines this week:

SUNDAY – Sorry, no treadmill/reading time today, but I did shovel the whole damned driveway, so that offsets the exercise portion, anyway.

MONDAY – (Fallen) For a moment, Oliver thought he was back in France. He could see nothing but the flicker of firelight, hear nothing but the discordant, terrified cries of the injured and dying. As the sound grew louder he jerked upright and blinked in the semi darkness with sweat beading his entire body. Dragging in huge breaths through his nose, he dragged his blanket around him and shuddered with the naked relief that he was in his own bed safe in London.

TUESDAY – (Fallen) He was surprised at just how much his father had influenced the way he felt about himself. He was shocked at the depth of shame that had swamped him, kept swamping him, but he began to think more in terms of how he could conduct a relationship with Daniel more than how much he needed to apologize.

WEDNESDAY – (The Heat of the Moment) He settled himself into a position where he stood the best chance of being unobserved, fumbled in his pocket, pulled out a handkerchief, clamped it over his mouth, and squeezed tight his eyes. Tears rolled over his hands, and into his mouth and nose as he wept.

THURSDAY – (The Heat of the Moment) Rain hammered against his head, thunder rumbled in the distance and lightning danced across the horizon. His arms burned, his heart was pounding almost out of his chest, and he could barely breathe when he got there.

FRIDAY – (The Wrong Kind of Angel) Listening to the howling wind and watching the falling snow blanket the landscape from the safety of his study made him feel exceedingly cosy. He picked up the paper, sipped his tea, and propped his feet on the stool. Horatio promptly settled himself on his lap and he was tempted to kick off his shoes and toast his feet by the fireside Mrs. Darnley had adorned with holly, making the room feel almost festive.

SATURDAY – (The Wrong Kind of Angel) Harry sucked in a breath, straightened his spine, and stared into the fire. His head and ears were still ringing with the spectacle that he had just witnessed. He looked up at Charlie, seeing him in a new light, but he needed to pull himself together. It was time for the truth no matter what it cost. The words came out in a tumble.
