What I #amreading: Angels of Autumn by Joshua Skye

My favorite lines this week:

✿✿ SUNDAY ✿✿

Wren wasn’t overwhelmingly conservative but the conservatives were overwhelming.

✿✿ MONDAY ✿✿

When he was done weeping, his face flushed and his eyes bloodshot, he crawled into bed, shrugged under the covers, cuddled with a pillow, and allowed himself to drift off to sleep.

✿✿ TUESDAY ✿✿

Kincaid refused to look away this time no matter how nerve-racking or unsettling the situation slowly became. He wasn’t in high school anymore, he wasn’t the frightened and belittled teenager who shied away from everyone and Angelo wasn’t the pompous cock-of-the-walk anymore. They were adults and far more equal now than Angelo was probably even aware of.

✿✿ WEDNESDAY ✿✿

For just a split moment he thought of the very first kiss he’d ever had. Oh, how the butterflies had swarmed then too. Yes, that was the sensation inside him, butterflies beginning an amorous voyage. There were sparks of passionate desire that burst like fireworks behind his eyelids.

✿✿ THURSDAY ✿✿

He wiped the tears stinging his eyes and shoved the computer back under the mattress. He mumbled to himself, “What have you gotten yourself into, little boy?”

✿✿ FRIDAY ✿✿

“You’re welcome. But one thing, don’t let that toilet get like that again, that was like visiting the inner circle of Hell. Seriously! And do not call me ‘dude.’ It’s so passé.”

✿✿ SATURDAY ✿✿

Damrosch’s once indecisive fingers wrapped around a random donut and picked it up, shoved it deep into the darkness of his mouth. He bit. He chewed. Raspberry jelly dripped down his chin and powdered sugar wisped about his face, swirling strands in dance.
