Treadmill Week 82 & What I #amreading – Marlowe’s Ghost by Sarah Black

Treadmill Goals/Tracking

  • Get on the treadmill (or equivalent exercise) daily
  • Pace is fine at 30 min/mile, although I may up it on occasion
  • Time range between 30 minutes and 1 hour per day
  • Distance 1-2 miles per day
  • Read the chosen book, which I won’t allow myself to read outside of my treadmill time, hopefully motivating me to reach or exceed the above goals (exception…at the end of the week where a book is highlighted, I will finish it off-treadmill so I can feature something new the next week)

What I #amreading: Marlowe’s Ghost by Sarah Black

My favorite lines this week:

✿✿ SUNDAY ✿✿ I couldn’t pick just one today, so here are my two favorite passages of the day!

Will understood better than most how near-death experiences changed a person. Some people talked to Christopher Marlowe’s ghost, some people twisted Gumby and his little horse Pokey into obscene positions and put a photograph of the outrage on the Internet.

~ ~ ~

“Didn’t my uncle warn you I’m already crazy? Talking to ghosts and all that?”

Will stopped and looked at Tom. His cheeks were still flushed with color, but he looked like he was the willing butt of some great cosmic joke. Will felt the weight of a duffel bag full of toys on his shoulder. “We’re all crazy, bud.”

✿✿ MONDAY ✿✿

It may have been summer in England, but summer meant something different here and required a sweatshirt.

✿✿ TUESDAY ✿✿

“Is love meant to last?”

“It’s like the roses, Will.”

“You mean it has to fade? All love dies?”

“You’re not thinking. Does the plant die with each bloom?”

✿✿ WEDNESDAY ✿✿

When Will finished the books, he was not convinced Kit had written Shakespeare. He was convinced that some lithium added to the municipal water supply around the ancient city of Oxford might be a good idea.

✿✿ THURSDAY ✿✿

“I love you, too. I’m not going to say it again and again. I’m just going to prove it to you with quiet action.”

✿✿ FRIDAY ✿✿

Tommy took his hand. “The world is lit with beautiful color since you crawled into my Murphy bed. Don’t make me go back to living in black and white.”

✿✿ SATURDAY ✿✿

I finished the book Friday since I knew I’d be mowing today. Here’s a quote I pulled from the final section:

“…You’re gorgeous with the sun on your face, have I told you? I love the warmth on your skin, the way your eyes seem to soak up the sun and turn gold….”
