I’ve joined the Rainbow Snippets group on Facebook. From their description: “Rainbow Snippets is a group for LGBTQ+ authors, readers, and bloggers to gather once a week to share six sentences from a work of fiction–a WIP or a finished work or even a 6-sentence book recommendation (no spoilers please!).” Pretty cool, eh? Don’t forget to “Like” my Facebook page and/or my Facebook profile while you’re over there checking out this fantastic group!
I’m snipping from The Best-Laid Plans, an unedited Work in Progress. This story continues The Contingency Plan. I’ve decided the good princes could use a little challenge on the way to the HEA we imagined for them at the end of their introductory short story. This is the second of three snippets giving the opening lines from the new story.
Told from Prince Efren’s 3rd-person POV.
Click this spoiler tag if you want a refresher of last week’s snippet:
This Week’s Snippet:
Efren lifted the hand he’d been holding and landed a brief kiss to the inside of Marcelo’s wrist. “I’ll join you shortly at the table.”
Marcelo’s manners were too refined for him to voice an objection, but the tilt of his brows conveyed a mild curiosity. He nodded to Efren, and a smile played at his lips. “Of course.”
Efren strode across the hall to face Gideon. “Do you have news of the missing ‘mouse’?”
“I do,” Gideon replied. “Hugh’s returned.”
My sweet short story, The Contingency Plan is available at distributors everywhere (Books2Read Universal Buy-Link | Publisher/JMS Books).
If you’ve already read and enjoyed that one, you might also be interested in the bonus scenes (the opening scenes retold from Prince Efren’s POV).

Very intriguing. Who’s the mouse and who/s Hugh. I’m glad there’s going to be one next week
Thank you! Ah, the first line of next week’s snippet will answer that question. 🙂
Ooh. I look forward to more. Thank you for sharing. And Happy Writing!
Thank you! ♡
Intriguing!
Thank you! 💞
The intrigue deepens…
Thanks! That’s the goal. 😉
Lovely scene – leaves me wanting more. 😉
Thank you! 💞
I hear dramatic music playing… 😉
It’s certainly leading up to a bit of drama! 💗
Ooo the last two lines are intriguing.
Thank you! 💞
Mouse is generally a term used for someone either 1) afraid or running or 2) been very underestimated. I’m looking forward to finding out which it is.
Ah, actually neither. More like someone who sneaks around undetected (as in a spy). Mostly I wanted to work the term in because the book title is “The Best-Laid Plans,” chapter 1 is “of Mice and Men,” and chapter 2 is “Oft Go Awry.” So I made it work. 😉
Ah, clever!
😘
Very intriguing!
Thank you! 💞
