When Seth is murdered, their destinies are changed forever. Feelings and emotions come to the surface, but will the rules that govern the afterlife keep Dante and Seth apart for eternity, or will they be able to find their happily ever after together?
Excerpt
Seth kept the last cup of coffee, now barely lukewarm, for the man who always sat alone, distant from the rest. There was something about him that mesmerized Seth in a way he couldn’t describe. It was probably the man’s eyes, which were a vivid shade of blue that pierced even the darkest night. He sat on the same bench every night, huddled in a tatty black trench coat.
“Seth.” Blue Eyes nodded his thanks as he wrapped his hands around the cup Seth handed to him.
“It’s not very warm, I’m afraid.”
Blue Eyes shrugged, never taking his gaze off Seth as he sipped the coffee. His dark hair fell to his shoulders in waves, framing his handsome face. His olive skin tone made him appear healthier than the rest, although Seth was reasonably sure that was deceptive. A short beard and mustache helped further define his broad chin and sculpted cheekbones. Seth thought to ask his name, but couldn’t convince the question to leave his lips.
He was always like that around Blue Eyes: tongue-tied and awkward. The man was incredibly gorgeous, and Seth couldn’t help but be physically attracted to him. Maybe in another lifetime, under very different circumstances, he would have the confidence to ask Blue Eyes more about himself; discover the mysteries sparkling in the depths of his eyes. But things were what they were and showing interest in the man was wholly inappropriate. So, instead of asking Blue Eyes his name, he uttered a goodbye and turned to go.
☆ Character Interview ☆
What is your name? Do you have a nickname? If so, who calls you by it, and how did you get it?
Dante: My name is Dante. Seth used to call me Blue Eyes before he knew my name because of the color of my eyes. I’ve been told the color is pretty stunning.
Seth: I’m Seth. I don’t exactly have a nickname, but I did end up with a title of sorts. *He smiles wistfully* But you’ll have to read our story to find out what it is.
How old are you?
Seth: Twenty-Five. Which definitely felt too young to die.
Do you ever lie? If so, when?
Seth: I’m a terrible liar, so I don’t tend to do it. But the one time I needed to lie—when it reallymattered—I managed to stick to my story and tell a lie about what I’d done with some photos I’d taken. I had to tell that lie, so I didn’t put someone else in danger.
What is your greatest regret?
Seth: Not living more when I was alive. I spent too long running; too long afraid and definitely too long closed off to everyone around me. I wish I’d opened up and let people in, then I wouldn’t have felt so lonely.
What is your favorite food/drink?
Dante: As a fallen angel, I don’t have to eat or drink to survive. But, since Seth and I were cast out of the angelic plane and fell to Earth, we do eat occasionally to fit in. I will admit that my favorite flavor is watermelon. Watermelon jolly ranchers, watermelon the fruit, watermelon flavored drinks. *Chuckles*
Are you a leader or a follower?
Dante: I’m definitely a leader. I don’t think I could ever sit back passively and let others set the pace of things. That being said, I think I’m fairly relaxed at the same time.
Are you an optimist or a pessimist?
Dante: Optimist all the way. With hard work and determination, anything can be achieved. Mine and Seth’s everlasting relationship and the love we have for each other, as well as our ability to have overcome all the odds to be together is proof of that.
If you died or went missing, who would miss you?
Seth: I had to find the answer out to this one the hard way! I thought no one would miss me, but that didn’t turn out to be the case. I’d made an impact on more people that I’d thought, so my disappearance didn’t go unnoticed.
What are your pet peeves?
Dante: Dishonesty and people who feel they are entitled to something.

T.N. Nova, Terri to her husband and Blazing Zane to her daughter, is the author of contemporary and paranormal gay romance. She’s lived in the desert southwest all of her adult life, most recently in Phoenix.
