#Treadmill Week 124 & What I #AmReading – Hangover and Out by Zakarrie Clarke

Treadmill Goals/Tracking

  • Get on the treadmill (or equivalent exercise) daily
  • Pace is fine at 30 min/mile, although I may up it on occasion
  • Time range between 30 minutes and 1 hour per day
  • Distance 1-2 miles per day
  • Read the chosen book, which I won’t allow myself to read outside of my treadmill time, hopefully motivating me to reach or exceed the above goals (exception…at the end of the week where a book is highlighted, I will finish it off-treadmill so I can feature something new the next week)

What I’m Reading

Note: Although I will try to avoid them, my weekly reading snippets may or may not contain spoilers, so read at your own risk.

What I #amreading: Hangover and Out (Hangover – book #2) by Zakarrie Clarke (because I couldn’t wait any longer to get more Daniel and Callum!)

Callum and Daniel have flown home to face the music, management, press and public after waking in Vegas with a Hangover for life and very much Out. Cal has finally allowed himself to snatch the fate he craved more than he can permit its consequences to count; even a future beond his control and his ability to safeguard it. Whether Callum can now survive the scrutiny of the public and press, Paul’s proclamations of doom and the mind-boggling dexterity of the hellfire tongue, unleashed? Is quite another story…

My favorite lines this week…

✿✿ SUNDAY ✿✿

“Daniel! How are you this morning? How’s your lip? How’s married life?” hollered a hack.

“Bloody brilliant, I’ve very well, thank you. ‘Twas my own fault for sticking my face in front of a flying fist. ‘Tis never the most circumspect of decisions, oddly ’nuff.” Daniel breezed, a wide grin stretching his scabby lip to splitting point. Worse still, there was a huge fucking love bite decorating his neck. Virulent violet. With flashing fairy lights around it…and a ‘look at me’ signpost.

✿✿ MONDAY ✿✿

The press would soon weary of their story, surely? There must have been one helluva dearth of news the day their story broke. With a bit of luck, the moment something more salacious happened along, they’d scuttle off after it like ferrets up a trouser leg.

✿✿ TUESDAY ✿✿

Brad had been so conspicuously quiet, Dan had suspected his nose was so put out o’joint, he’d be hard pressed to hoover anything up it. Let alone violate any vowels.

✿✿ WEDNESDAY ✿✿

A tremor very like terror trembled through Dan’s body. The twisty, treacherous fear of being about to get what you craved most on earth. Daniel dragged in a desperate breath, as if to becalm a heartbeat hammering hard ’nuff to burst; hovering on the precipice of a paradise he’d never dared dream would be his. A part of him wanted to clutch onto the moment forever; the ineffable bliss of being about to scale an impossible peak…but that bit was outvoted.

✿✿ THURSDAY ✿✿

“Y’okay?” Daniel frowned, after noting Cal’s scrutiny.

“Yeah. I’m fine. Don’t worry.”

“I always worry.” Dan sighed.

“I know y’do, but you needn’t about this, okay? I’m okay. I want you to enjoy it, maybe even remember doing so.

“’Kay…if you’re sure, cos I could rustle up a swoon, if you like?”

✿✿ FRIDAY ✿✿

“I definitely don’t pay you ’nuff to waft logic my way, Mattie. ’Til most unseemly.”

✿✿ SATURDAY ✿✿

“Stop nagging. Strewth. I’m workin’ on it.” Callum peered down at his jeans as if a troupe of tap dancing mice might suddenly spring forth from his flies. Or he was about to disable a deadly device. Hmm.

    1. I adore your stories. I especially love the phrasing. It’s so hard to narrow down all the fabulous passages to select just one little quote per day.
