TREADMILL Week 145 & What I #AmReading – Beauregard and the Beast by Evie Drae

Treadmill Goals/Tracking

  • Get on the treadmill (or equivalent exercise) daily
  • Pace is fine at 30 min/mile, although I may up it on occasion
  • Time range between 30 minutes and 1 hour per day
  • Distance 1-2 miles per day
  • Read the chosen book, which I won’t allow myself to read outside of my treadmill time, hopefully motivating me to reach or exceed the above goals (exception…at the end of the week where a book is highlighted, I will finish it off-treadmill so I can feature something new the next week)

What I #amreading: Beauregard and the Beast by Evie Drae

A Once Upon a Vegas Night Tale

His greatest prize can’t be won in the octagon.

Champion MMA fighter Adam Littrell needs no distractions as he prepares for the fight that will determine whether he retires. But when he opens the door of his swanky Las Vegas home to his new personal assistant, Bo Wilkins, staying focused becomes a struggle.

Aware of Adam’s surly reputation, Bo doesn’t expect to like his new employer, let alone fall for him. But Bo is pleasantly surprised when a shared love of books leads them to study for their GEDs together and plan for a life after their current careers. Adam won’t be able to fight forever, and Bo wants a relationship on equal footing.

But just as their relationship is getting off the ground, the sister Bo raised needs his help, and he drops everything. With Adam’s final match looming and Bo in a different city, reuniting will be the real challenge.

My favorite lines this week…

✿✿ SUNDAY ✿✿ (Bo’s POV)

Bo snorted. Loud. With a complete lack of grace. He closed his eyes and wished himself invisible. “Yeah, okay, I’ll be down in a jiffy.”

A jiffy? What, was he eighty years old now? Where did these sayings keep coming from? Some secret store of humiliation tactics his brain kept stocking for such an occasion?

✿✿ MONDAY ✿✿ (Adam’s POV)

The sexual tension sizzling between them couldn’t be denied, yet Bo made sure to keep their professional relationship at the forefront of every interaction. There was never any doubt where he stood, even when Adam caught his gaze drifting somewhere decidedly nonwork-related.

Somewhere that twitched in Adam’s pants at the mere thought of Bo’s gorgeous green eyes widening behind his glasses when he realized he’d been caught. On more than on occasion.

✿✿ TUESDAY ✿✿ (Adam’s POV)

“Fine.” Bo breathed a heavy, exaggerated sigh. “What’s it going to be this time? You don’t plan to bust my eardrums again, do you? Because, seriously, you sound like an injured animal when you sing. That kind of auditory torture should be illegal. At the very least, it should come with a warning label so any at-risk parties can come prepared with earplugs.”

Adam’s jaw dropped. He planted both fists on his his and shot Bo the stink eye. It took every ounce of willpower he possessed not to bust out laughing.

✿✿ WEDNESDAY ✿✿ (Bo’s POV)

“What the hell is this shit? Adam poked a finger into the bag. He pulled his arm back a second later as if something had bitten him. “It’s spongy. Why is it spongy?”

“It’s tripe, you big baby. It’s good for you. Lots of protein.”

✿✿ THURSDAY ✿✿ (Adam’s POV)

Adam huffed out a laugh. “Squishy-hearted?”

“Yup.” Bo popped the p at the end with an exaggerated smack of his lips. “You’re a big ol’ softy who I wanna get very, very naked.”

✿✿ FRIDAY ✿✿ (Adam’s POV)

“Okay, so what I’m hearing you say is you want me to strip.”

Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner.” Adam’s grin lit up the room, putting the vanity spotlights to shame. “Bob, why don’t you show the man what he’s won?”

✿✿ SATURDAY ✿✿ (Bo’s POV)

Pursing her lips, Lulu set the magazine on her lap and tilted her head. “You’ve got some stubble burn there, bro. Glad I exited stage left when I did. From the looks of it, he tried to suck your whole face off.”
