This month’s topic is…

Looking back on 2023 and forward to 2024…

2023

I didn’t write much in 2023. I did write one story for publication (Luck of the Draw) in 2023, and it turned out to be novella length, which is longer than I originally expected. To be fair, though, I did keep my promise to do better on putting out my monthly newsletter!

And before you say, “That’s not really writing,” know that I include some fresh flash fiction or a new bonus scene in each of the monthly editions (as opposed to the new release or sale alert extras). Yes, those are pretty short, but they do take up some time.

In fact, I’ve got a bit of a continuing serial going now featuring the MCs from Weekend at Bigfoot’s in a shared universe with my vampire books, The Recruit and The Choice (but not including the characters from those books). So you could say it’s turning into a fresh short story coming out in my newsletter one short scene at a time.

Anyone who wants to catch up on that can do so here on the website on my bonus scenes pages for those books. The newsletter folks are getting the new scenes exclusive for a month before it drops here on the site, too.

2024

I’ll continue to keep up with the newsletter and see where things go with that Bigfoot story (Birthday Panic!) Maybe I’ll start another serial after that? IDK.

I’ve had the spin off story for Closets Are for Clothes brewing in my head for a while now, and I think that’ll be my next project. I’m even going to try to write down a basic outline plan for it and see how that works for me.

I think that one might change even more from its original incarnation than Closets did from its original version (A Dream Come True). Maybe I’ll be able to ramp up the MCs drama if I have it planned out instead of winging it and not having the heart to go too hard on them while I’m writing? Gonna try, anyway.

I might also try a short story or two along the way? We’ll see. The actual goal, though, is to write the aforementioned book.
