May 5 2017 Prompt – Adventures with Harrison and Mason #FlashFic #FlashFictionFriday

I came across this list of writing prompts for May, 2017 on the Writer’s Write page and thought I’d give it a whirl. I’m going to try for a series of drabbles (precisely 100-word scenes) that will flow together featuring the characters from my Adventures with Harrison and Mason flash fiction story scenes.

May-Prompts

May 5, 2017 — Station 12

Also includes “Lazy” left in the comments of last week’s Flash Fiction Friday post.

(Mason’s 3rd-person POV)

“We’re almost there,” Mason said. “Wake up, lazybones!” It was no wonder Jaxon had crashed in the backseat of the rental car. They’d gotten up so early for their flight, and of course the little boy had been too excited to sleep on the plane.

“To Gramps’ house?” Jaxon rubbed his eyes then looked out the window and pointed at the big red doors of the firehouse as they passed. “Hey, it’s Station 12! Maybe he’ll tell me more stories of when he was a fireman.”

Harrison chuckled and nudged Mason. “It’s his favorite subject, so I’m sure he will.”

Flash Fiction Friday

To be continued tomorrow using ‘seasons.’

All the drabbles in this series using the May, 2017 prompts can be found here (note: to read them in order, you’ll need to scroll to the bottom of the category list and read up from there).

Feel free to leave a prompt word in the comments for me to include in next week’s Flash Fiction Friday post.

      1. Lol, I didn’t even think of that.

And another thought struck me now too, about olives stuck where they’re not supposed to be…and don’t freak out when I say it’s about Jaxon! (I know I wanted the olive somewhere else, but Jaxon plays such a prominent role in the story, so it got me thinking 🙂 )

It reminds me of a book by Astrid Lindgren (you know the Pippi author) called Madicken (or Mischievous Meg in English https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/42327.Mischievous_Meg). In one scene her younger sister Lisabet (Elizabeth) puts a pea up her nose and it gets stuck, so they have to go to the doctor to get it out.

But maybe an olive is too big for Jaxon’s nose? 😉

        1. Hahahaha! I guess great minds think alike, because I was already considering that. He might be a little old for that to be likely, though. Perhaps there’s a family reunion going on, though, and some cousin can do it? As for size, I suppose it can be smashed, and just require a good blow rather than a trip to the ER? 😳

          1. Lol, that’s funny!

It could be a dare. Maybe an older cousin dares him to do it, to prove himself worthy of something? 😀

I look forward to reading it and see what you come up with 🙂

(And for the record: the pea falls out by itself. When the girls are on their way to the doctor—on foot—they meet two sisters who they get into a fight with, and during this fight the pea falls out, so when they get to the doctor he can’t find anything. And yes. Four girls get into a fight. That’s why I love Astrid’s characters so much: girls are cool too 🙂 )
