May 17 2017 Prompt – Adventures with Harrison and Mason #FlashFic

I came across this list of writing prompts for May, 2017 on the Writer’s Write page and thought I’d give it a whirl. I’m going to try for a series of drabbles (precisely 100-word scenes) that will flow together featuring the characters from my Adventures with Harrison and Mason flash fiction story scenes.

May 17, 2017 — Aborted

(Harrison’s 3rd-person POV)

“Shh. What’s that?” Harrison whispered. Light—but fast moving—footsteps headed down the hallway toward their room, answering Harrison’s question about the thud he’d heard.

“Mission aborted,” Mason intoned as Harrison rolled off and raked a hand through his hair, then took a deep cleansing breath and blew it out.

A soft knock sounded on the wooden door, and Mason called out, “Come on in, Jaxon.”

The door creaked open, and the little boy entered with a great big smile on his face. “Is there a museum near here that could tell us what kind of dinosaur bone I found?”

To be continued tomorrow using ‘a new low.’

All the drabbles in this series using the May, 2017 prompts can be found here (note: to read them in order, you’ll need to scroll to the bottom of the category list and read up from there).

  1. LOL!! That was hilarious!! (And unexpected, if you were wondering. I guessed Jaxon would interrupt them, but not like that!! Great job!! 🙂 )

And aaaawwwww. I know I’ve said it before, but I LOVE this family! <3

      1. Lol. Nothing bad or anything. I just didn’t expect Jaxon to ask about the pork bone at this moment in time. Maybe a classic nightmare? Or “I’m thirsty”. Or any of the other classic things that kids come up with to keep you up at night 🙂

But maybe it’s a REAL dinosaur? What do I know? 😀
