Skipping Flash Fiction Friday (Again)

Once again, time got away from me and I don’t have a Flash Fiction Friday post to put up.  I think it’s time for me to accept that rather than pushing myself to do it every week, it should become more of a random thing.

I’ll still write bonus scenes, alternate POV scenes, and even the occasional alternate universe scene for my existing stories, and I’ll still write flash scenes for my recurring flash characters as well as some standalone scenes. I just need to back off forcing myself to make time to do it every single week.

So, I’ll hold the three prompt words I got a couple weeks ago in reserve, and use them at some point…I just don’t know precisely when.

I think I’ve already mentioned, but I do have the opening scenes from The Contingency Plan reimagined from Prince Efren’s POV already scheduled for five days (the first Monday through Friday) in early June. I haven’t written any bonus scenes for that one because I’ve got tentative plans to continue Prince Marcelo and Prince Efren’s story.

  1. That feels like a good decision. As fun as it is to write flashfics, once you stop doing it you realize how much time it eats up. Because you have to change from whatever your regular WIP is into whatever you wanna write, and that transition is hard on the brain. At least for me. 🙂

    1. OMG, it’s SUCH a time-suck, and you’re right about the mental-juggling. I do enjoy writing them, and will continue to do so, but not on a time schedule.
