Treadmill Week 96 & What I #amreading – The Accident Curse by Foster Bridget Cassidy

Treadmill Goals/Tracking

  • Get on the treadmill (or equivalent exercise) daily
  • Pace is fine at 30 min/mile, although I may up it on occasion
  • Time range between 30 minutes and 1 hour per day
  • Distance 1-2 miles per day
  • Read the chosen book, which I won’t allow myself to read outside of my treadmill time, hopefully motivating me to reach or exceed the above goals (exception…at the end of the week where a book is highlighted, I will finish it off-treadmill so I can feature something new the next week)

My favorite lines this week:

✿✿ SUNDAY ✿✿

“I’m not grumpy,” Dad said grumpily from the front.

✿✿ MONDAY ✿✿

I surprised myself by leaning forward as he continued. The passion in Colten when speaking drew me in. He moved his hands animatedly, as if he were conveying his words visually. From the description, I couldn’t wait to see the cow.

✿✿ TUESDAY ✿✿

“I was a bit thrown off at first, Mart. I won’t lie. But then, that…asshole…had the nerve to tell me I needed to get you into therapy. He told me the loss of your mother had broken you. That it made you see all women as her, and you couldn’t be with them sexually because of it.”

Holy shit! Motherfucking—”

His hand gripped mine. “Mart, calm down. Let me finish. He told me all this, and like I said, I was confused. But the second he said that, I got to my feet and punched him in the nose.”

✿✿ WEDNESDAY ✿✿

The roar of the falls pounded my eardrum, blocking out all other sound.

Colten and I stared at it in silence, standing close to each other, hands clasped together.

“Marty,” Colten said. He put his mouth right next to my ear so I could hear him over the noise of the water. “I had a crush on you in high school.”

✿✿ THURSDAY ✿✿ Mowed, and I’m closing in on a deadline for a story submission so I had to pass on reading, darn it!

✿✿ FRIDAY ✿✿

Beside his truck, he put both his arms around me and pulled me to him. I breathed deep his scent, of cows and grass and clean sweat. I’d never realized how much I enjoyed the smell of the outdoors.

✿✿ SATURDAY ✿✿

He hobbled off toward the shop—Cary’s Auto Parts—and I honked when he got to the door. He raised a hand and flipped up his middle finger. I laughed and pulled out of the lot.

  1. I bought this a long time ago but I haven’t gotten around to reading it yet. I’m a serious book hoarder. It’s like I want to make sure I have enough to read when the apocalypse arrives. Never mind I won’t be able to charge my e-reader when that happens…at least I have hundreds and hundreds of unread books 😀

    1. This is a nice, well-written story. Move it up that TBR! 😄

LOL! Speaking of apocalypse, I’m reading “I Wore Heels to the Apocalypse” on the treadmill this week. I’ll finish it later today! 💖

      1. I’m still into Harry Potter fanfic at the moment, but I’ll remember when I get tired of it, I promise! 🙂

        Also, that’s a fabulous title! 🙂
