#TREADMILL Week 120 & What I #AmReading – The Fireman and the Cop by RJ Scott

Treadmill Goals/Tracking

  • Get on the treadmill (or equivalent exercise) daily
  • Pace is fine at 30 min/mile, although I may up it on occasion
  • Time range between 30 minutes and 1 hour per day
  • Distance 1-2 miles per day
  • Read the chosen book, which I won’t allow myself to read outside of my treadmill time, hopefully motivating me to reach or exceed the above goals (exception…at the end of the week where a book is highlighted, I will finish it off-treadmill so I can feature something new the next week)

What I’m Reading

Note: Although I will try to avoid them, my weekly reading snippets may or may not contain spoilers, so read at your own risk.

What I #amreading: The Fireman and the Cop (Ellery Mountain, book 1) by RJ Scott

Rescuing a cop from a burning precinct is in Max’s job description; falling in love was never part of the deal.

Max Harrison moved from the city to take up a role as assistant to the mayor, while also a volunteer firefighter. When he meets Finn Ryan in Ellery, he falls in lust that burns as hot as the fires an arsonist is setting in town.

Finn Ryan is a cop, and somehow he’s attracted trouble. Going back into a fire to rescue the town drunk is just the start. Now he has to rely on the man he’s falling for to make sure it doesn’t end with him dying.

NOTE: This book is a re-edited version, and will have additional scenes. A free replacement service is available.

My favorite lines this week…

✿✿ SUNDAY ✿✿

Fire, that fucking mistress of his, was a killer, and he had every respect for her power. He reached a T-junction and took a left. The air thickened with smoke, and he prayed he wasn’t too late. Anyone trapped in this sort of environment would be overcome and close to being out of it. He needed to fine out where the man was.

✿✿ MONDAY ✿✿Didn’t read because I did yard work instead of the treadmill, and considering the length of the book, six days is probably about right anyway.

✿✿ TUESDAY ✿✿

Finn frowned, and Kieran held his hands up in mock defense. “I was joking. Hey, a thought, though…you say he’s your fantasy? What if his fantasy is a cop tying him to the bed with handcuffs?”

✿✿ WEDNESDAY ✿✿

“I’ll be at yours for six,” Finn said instead of asking what Max meant. Because, hell, not everyone had a hidden agenda.

✿✿ THURSDAY ✿✿

Max wasn’t dressed for this, but it didn’t stop him from jumping the bank and into the clear mountain water. Wading to the truck, he could see that somehow the whole thing had made it down the mountain fairly much in one piece, and looked like it had been parked deliberately in the water.

✿✿ FRIDAY ✿✿

“Don’t ever be sorry,” he said fiercely. “Not for anything.”

✿✿ SATURDAY ✿✿

That strange faux darkness that indicated nighttime fell over the hospital, and yet again Finn measured time by meds and nurse visits.

  1. I like this series. I’ve read all of them except for the new one, #8. It was published pretty recently, and a long time after #7, so I think I need to re-read the books to get back into Ellery Mountain. And I just saw that there are added scenes, too. Hmmmm… 😀

    1. I just looked up the 2nd book to see who would be featured. I’d suspected while reading this one, that we would see Fitz’s son in his own story. That should be interesting. I’m glad these aren’t exclusive to Amazon.
