I’ve joined the Rainbow Snippets group on Facebook. From their description: “Rainbow Snippets is a group for LGBTQ+ authors, readers, and bloggers to gather once a week to share six sentences from a work of fiction–a WIP or a finished work or even a 6-sentence book recommendation (no spoilers please!).” Pretty cool, eh? Don’t forget to “Like” my Facebook page and/or my Facebook profile while you’re over there checking out this fantastic group!
This week I’m snipping from my current WiP, When Are You?
I don’t have a blurb yet, but it’s a time travel story. This is the opening scene. The story is unedited, so please squint as needed.
From Leo’s 3rd-person POV:
Leo chanced another glimpse in his peripheral vision. The man didn’t pop up in their vicinity any more than others did since they’d relocated to this small town in Oregon. Creeper guy sometimes reacted a bit disconcertingly around them, but it didn’t seem like they were under surveillance. “He doesn’t give off a bigot vibe.”
“Closet case looking for a threesome vibe?” Vinnie’s shiver added a touch of dramatic flair making his opinion on that matter abundantly obvious in case the tone of his voice hadn’t cleared that up.
I don’t have a real blurb yet, but in the meantime…
There once was a family so gay,
who were going on their merry way,
when a portal appeared,
which they thought they had cleared,
but they lost their sweet boy that fine day.
Oscar’s such a dear.
Pity what happened to him.
When are you, sweet child?
I guess you could tack on…
“Will our loving heroes find a way to rescue their sweet boy, or is he doomed to spend the rest of his life with the earliest of the USA’s primitive settlers? Or is there a third alternative?”
…to the end of my *cough* top-notch poetry for a general idea of what the story’s about.

I wonder why Vinnie is so much more concerned about him than Leo is?
Leo’s concerned, but he’s a bit more understated. 💞
How very mysterious!
Yeah, so far. Creeper guy has reasons for having taken notice of them, but mostly just doesn’t want to interfere with them now that he has noticed them. Leo and Vinnie should be more worried about what creeper guy knows, than about creeper guy himself.
Lol – I love Vinnie’s attitude! Although it’s kind of weird reading about a guy with the same name as my cat! 😉
Thank you! ❤️ I love when our fur-family members have non-traditional pet names. 😻
I’m really hoping creeper guy doesn’t turn out to be…well, creepy.
He’s not really a “creepy” person. It’s nothing like what they imagine, which is not to say they have nothing to worry about regarding what creeper guy knows.
It seems like Leo’s more content to ignore the creeper guy than Vinnie.
He’s not ignoring creeper guy (which will be spelled out within the next few snippets). He’s downplaying it. I read him as trying not to alarm Vinnie, but also not seeing creeper guy as a true threat.
How very interesting, and I love the poetry at the end.
Thank you! 💖
Oh! I see… I think… lol… Oh I hope they get him back safe and sound!
I make no promises. 😇😁
Thank you! 💞
