TREADMILL Week 166 & What I #AmReading – Let Me Show You by Becca Seymour

Treadmill Goals/Tracking

  • Get on the treadmill (or equivalent exercise) daily
  • Pace is fine at 30 min/mile, although I may up it on occasion
  • Time range between 30 minutes and 1 hour per day
  • Distance 1-2 miles per day
  • Read the chosen book. I’m officially modifying my original rule of not reading the book-of-the-week off-treadmill. I’m usually going to look at length and try to divide it up somewhat evenly per day, even if that means either closing that book early (if it’s short) or continuing after (if it’s long).

What I’m Reading

Note: Although I will try to avoid them, my weekly reading snippets may or may not contain spoilers, so read at your own risk.

What I #amreading: Let Me Show You (True-Blue book 1) by Becca Seymour

When a veterinarian and a construction worker connect, it takes mishaps, mistakes, and a Rhodesian Ridgeback named Rex to show them they’re made for each other.

Dr. Carter Falon is content living a quiet life in a small town caring for his animal patients. That doesn’t mean he’s not looking for a distraction. After finding himself precariously wedged… naked and at the mercy of a drop-dead gorgeous construction worker, Carter hires his savior to renovate his home.

When Tanner Grady’s best friend and new niece needed him, he uprooted and relocated without a second thought. His life has since been centered on work and spending time with his family, but when he comes to the rescue of a cute vet, Tanner finds he’s a lot more interested in the homeowner than the house he’s renovating.

Book one in Becca Seymour’s low-angst, feel-good LGBTQ series, True-blue. In the small town of Kirkby, there are busybodies, dogs who cause chaos, families who have the “best” of timing, and where good men have the opportunity to find their perfect match.

My favorite lines this week…

✿✿ SUNDAY ✿✿ (Carter’s POV)

She grinned, seeming to understand my silence when she wriggled her brows and she said, “You never know, there could be a sex god just waiting around the corner to sweep you off your feet. She paused at my look of disbelief. It seemed she’d read my “as if that could ever happen” expression. “Stranger things have happened.”

✿✿ MONDAY ✿✿ (Tanner’s POV)

After finalizing the quote, it would be an easy task to e-mail it to him. It seemed, though, I was a glutton for punishment. Instead, I pulled up to his house. It was past seven o’clock in the evening, but like a needy fucker, I wanted to make sure I could hand it to him personally rather than leaving it in his mailbox.

✿✿ TUESDAY ✿✿ (Carter’s POV)

I was on fire. My skin threatened to burn off in the best possible way. How on earth was that even a good thing? All I knew was when Tanner took on Scott, my heart had threatened to burst out of my chest with emotion for the man. He was strong and brave, and so goddamn sexy, and I wanted nothing more than to climb him like a freakin’ tree and dry hump him.

✿✿ WEDNESDAY ✿✿ (Tanner’s POV)

“Hey,” I released one of his hands and lifted his chin so our eyes connected. “Whatever you need, I’ll support you, okay? You don’t have to deal with any of this alone.” I waited for what felt like a lifetime as the air around us crackled with tension. The slightest of nods from Carter though had me exhaling deeply. I grinned, a big-ass genuine smile. “I’ve got your back.”

✿✿ THURSDAY ✿✿ (Tanner’s POV)

“In all these years not once have you admitted to liking a guy.” When I rolled my eyes, he squinted and pointed his finger at me. With a snort, he said, “Seriously, you fucker, I know you wanted me to meet him, and yeah, that told me this guy was important, but you like him like him.”

I shook my head. “You going to start trying to braid my fucking hair or something? Damn, Davis, what is this, middle school?”

✿✿ FRIDAY ✿✿ (Carter’s POV)

When I’d admitted to my parents that Tanner, the same guy who’d worked his magic on my house over the past few months, was actually my boyfriend, my mom’s squeal of “I knew it!” had set dogs howling everywhere within a three-mile radius. I was sure of it.

✿✿ SATURDAY ✿✿ (Tanner’s POV)

“What?” Carter tilted his head, scanning my face. His eyes widened and brightened with delight. “Is that pink I see on those cheeks of yours?” He mock gasped. “Are you going shy on me?”
