TREADMILL Week 172 & What I #AmReading – Hurts so Good (Trio) by Kris T. Bethke, Gordon Phillips, and K.L. Noone

Treadmill Goals/Tracking

  • Get on the treadmill (or equivalent exercise) daily
  • Pace is fine at 30 min/mile, although I may up it on occasion
  • Time range between 30 minutes and 1 hour per day
  • Distance 1-2 miles per day
  • Read the chosen book. I’m officially modifying my original rule of not reading the book-of-the-week off-treadmill. I’m usually going to look at length and try to divide it up somewhat evenly per day, even if that means either closing that book early (if it’s short) or continuing after (if it’s long).

JMS Books’ Trios are themed collections of three gay romance stories by a trio of authors. Each story is available separately, but readers can get all three for a discounted bundle price.

Hurts So Good contains three M/M BDSM romances (well, one’s M/M/M)! Contains the stories:

Accepting Submission by Kris T. Bethke: When Asher loses the ability to shift into his bear, he heads to a wolf pack with the hopes that Alpha Trey can give him what he needs. Asher gets even more than he bargained for with Trey as a Dom and lover, and a pack who accepts a damaged bear. Now Asher just needs to accept himself to have a life he deserves to live.

Gym Slave by Gordon Phillips: Marc joins a new gym to expand his personal experiences, but finds these and more in a back-lot encounter from which he is rescued by Anatole, a gym staff member. In a journey of captivity and degradation, Marc discovers disturbing aspects of his own nature and must choose between ordinary life and that of a “Sub” in a relationship that challenges his deepest values but feeds his deepest passions.

Leather and Tea in London by K.L. Noone: Retired secret agent Ben will do anything for his husband. So when Simon’s brother needs help, Ben and Simon head to London. But this new mission only reminds Ben of his past. Simon wants to help Stephen, but being back home stirs up ugly memories for him, too. In London, Ben and Simon will face the past and find comfort in each other … with some leather and tea.

My favorite lines this week…

✿✿ SUNDAY ✿✿ Accepting Submission by Kris T. Bethke

“I shouldn’t have come.” My voice came out as barely a whisper, and I fidgeted before I half rose. “I’ll go and you never—”

“Asher.” Trey’s voice came out sharp, but no unkind, and my gaze snapped to his. I had no idea what his expression meant and I shook my head and tried to turn even from my partially standing position. But then his hand touched mine. Big and warm and comforting, and a sob caught in my throat.

✿✿ MONDAY ✿✿ Accepting Submission by Kris T. Bethke

I really loved him calling me that, and I didn’t know why. I wasn’t going to think too much on it. If I did, my stupid brain would start pointing out all the reasons I shouldn’t. So I just nodded and dropped my gaze. Trey wasn’t having any of that, though. He grabbed my chin and made me look at him.

✿✿ TUESDAY ✿✿ Gym Slave by Gordon Phillips

“You must be a good runner.” He motioned down at his own legs. “I’m built like a hippo. Strong but not fast.”

“Oh,” I said, thinking about what I had heard, that hippos could move very fast over short distances. But I didn’t say anything; I was too busy wondering whether he thought I had nice legs or just fast legs.

✿✿ WEDNESDAY ✿✿ Gym Slave by Gordon Phillips

After receiving the prick, I sank back into the pillows to savor the onset and progress of the relief. The nurse left, and I let my mind wander. At one point I giggled, remembering one of my father’s favorite, rather bad, jokes. Someone sees a guy periodically banging his head against a brick wall, and when he asks him why he was doing this, the guy smiles and replies, “It feels so good when the pain goes away!”

✿✿ THURSDAY ✿✿ Gym Slave by Gordon Phillips

It was like he knew what he had to do.

Okay, I told myself. All I need to do is figure out what I had to do. But how?

Feelings! Came the answer. I must listen to my feelings. So I did. I closed my eyes, breathed, and felt the situation, me on all fours on the floor, him standing over me—oh! I felt another rush of intoxicating pleasure. I knew!

✿✿ FRIDAY ✿✿ Leather and Tea in London by K.L. Noone

Within thirty seconds of disembarking from the plane, Simon had tripped over someone else’s luggage, tripped over a second person’s luggage while apologizing, nearly stepped in front of a cart full of security officers, and then walked into a post.

A post. An immovable, plainly visible, post.

✿✿ SATURDAY ✿✿ Leather and Tea in London by K.L. Noone

The laptop let him in without protest, and Ben did some poking around. “That’s more of your brother naked than I ever wanted to see.”
