Jase is famous around the world, and Garrett’s well-known in his neighborhood. They’re two singers. One is living his dream, and the other is living his brother’s.

Jase’s boyfriend’s hostility has increased toward him, making their relationship toxic, but too focused on his band, Jase lets it slide, causing him to almost miss out on the kind of love that lives in his fantasies.

Garrett made a promise to his brother when he passed. But a mistake in its interpretation almost causes Garrett to live out his brother’s dream instead of reaching for his own.

Can these men spot and remove the obstacles stopping them from making beautiful music together before it’s too late?

Garrett played the last chord of the song and stood. “Thanks so much for coming by tonight. I’m going to take a quick break for a bite to eat, and then I’ll be back with more songs.” Claps overrode all other sounds in the room. Garrett made his way to his table. He glanced at the bar and spotted Jase leaning against the wooden structure. He couldn’t stop his heart from racing as Jase stepped toward him. “Hey.”

“Hey.” Jase’s smile lit up the dimly lit room. “That song sounded great.”

“Thanks.” Garrett wasn’t sure why if other people said that, Garrett accepted their praise, but if it came from Jase, it came along with a whole bunch of feelings—butterflies in the stomach, heated skin, and doubt. Stuck in thought, Garrett missed what Jase said. “I’m sorry, what?”

“Gavin ran to the men’s room. Would it be all right if we joined you for a bit?”

“Absolutely.”

Jase waved to Gavin as he came from the back. At the table, he shook Garrett’s hand, and they all sat. “It’s great to see you again.”

Gavin smiled. “You too.”

“So, did you give any thought about playing at Record Reunion?” Jase asked.

Garrett’s skin heated. This was an old discussion. Jase bringing it up again, now in front of Gavin, didn’t make sense. “No. Not really. This place takes up all the time I have for my music.”

“You sure that’s the reason,” Jase asked. “Or do you still doubt you’re good enough for the place? Because you definitely are. You’re good.”

Garrett’s stomach fluttered. “So are you.”

“I mean, you’re really good,” Jase said, stressing the really.

“So are you,” Garrett stressed right back, as Gavin, with a huge smile on his face, sat watching them as if their conversation was a tennis match.

It was Jase’s turn again. “You could be me.”

What does that even mean? “Don’t know what that means,” Garrett laughed. “But thank you.”

“It means I think you should join the band.”

What? Garrett choked on the sip of soda he’d taken and was grateful he hadn’t spit it out at Jase or Gavin. “What band?” Garrett’s gaze flipped from Jase to Gavin and back to Jase.

“Our band,” Jase said with a straight face, his stare locked on Garrett’s.

“Yeah. Okay. I’m in.” Garrett couldn’t keep the sarcasm from his voice.

About L.A. Bryce

L.A. writes M/M romance with a splash of suspense. She loves her men to work hard, play hard and love hard. It doesn’t matter what their walk of life, although she has a special place in her heart for military heroes, those that put their life on the line every day to keep us safe, trouble always seems to find them — whether it’s a homicidal maniac, someone with a grudge against the country, or an ex who’s seeking out revenge — L.A.’s guys aren’t always faced with just fighting for love, they often have to fight for their lives.

L.A. has always lived in the northeast and has recently stretched her boundaries and moved farther north — the more relaxed life style giving her more time to write — in theory anyway.

Among the things she loves besides writing and her family are her friends, those she writes with and those she writes about, reading, games (the kind with boards, not in love), playing poker, her dogs, Nutella and Bok Choy, and of course, the men and women from the military, past and present, who keep us safe.

When she finds herself stuck at the keyboard, her fingers refusing to move, her characters refusing to talk, she likes to take a break, blast some music, and dance like no one is watching her or sing her heart out into her hairbrush microphone.

She’s living her happily ever after and wants the same for all her characters. L.A. believes love comes in all different packages and each should be wrapped in a ribbon and cherished.
