Hello Rainbow Snippeters! 😁
In case you’re not familiar with #RainbowSnippets, check out their Facebook Group where you’ll find a new post each Saturday (or early Friday, depending on your time zone). That weekly pinned post will collect comments from authors linking to their 6-ish-line Rainbow Snippet post for the week.
I’m snipping from Weekend at Bigfoot’s this week. I was hoping one of the obscure “holidays” for today would be a good fit for this novella since it celebrated its fourth bookversary earlier this week.
Not a perfect match since the snippet features a toad, but “American Frog Day” is close enough. This snippet comes late-ish in the story. I suppose it might be considered spoilery, but heck, anyone who’s paid attention to the genre (paranormal) and read the blurb, will have figured out that Wilson will eventually encounter a Bigfoot shifter, and duh, of course it’ll be his love interest, right? The fun in in the journey. 😁
It’s all from Wilson’s 3rd-Person POV:
For context, this comes after Wilson has unwittingly come across Oliver in Bigfoot form…
Some of the lettuce leaves still on the ground twitched, and with a speed that belied his size, Oliver plucked up a tiny toad and popped it into his mouth.
Wilson didn’t quite gag, but covered his own mouth. Oliver narrowed his eyes as he chewed—thankfully with his mouth closed.
“Right. Not judging. Sorry.”

It wasn’t supposed to be REAL!

BLURB
It wasn’t supposed to be REAL! Bigfoot doesn’t actually exist. Yetis, shifters, creatures of the night…none of those exist. Right? Right?
There’s nothing about perky—some might even say twinkie—Oliver Hughes that would make a skeptic like Sensational News’ (Never Fake! We Swear!) reporter Wilson Banks think otherwise. But while pursuing soundbites for a tabloid story about Bigfoot, Wilson witnesses something he wasn’t meant to see.
In Wilson’s new reality, is there room for love with someone whose dreams are as big as his…er…feet?
This fun novella has a paranormal twist, a hint of mystery, and a flavorful dollop of romantic comedy. Mix it all together for a satisfying HEA!

In all fairness, it’s hard not to judge, especially if you’re a fan of frogs. Alas, poor Kermit, I knew him well…he was tasty. (wry grin) Just kidding, Kermit! Not all of your fans want to eat you (although quite a few monsters on your show did and would envy the heck out of Oliver having this frog-crunching moment:)).
LOL. It would be very hard not to judge, but Wilson’s trying. 😁
A terrific snippet from a wonderful story! ❤️
Thank you so much! ❤️
If there’s to be any kissing, I hope the toad nosher brushes his teeth first. 😉
LOL. It’s the first thing he does after shifting back. 😂
Yeah… I’d be judging. At least cook it first. Maybe add a little seasoning…
I imagine un-shifted Oliver would prefer it that way, too. 😂
Well that’s something you don’t see every day. Frogs being a bit slimey
Nor do we want to see it every day! 🤮
