READ AROUND THE RAINBOW ~ Writer’s Block #RAtR

It’s the last Friday of the month and you know what that means! It’s ᖇEᗩᗪ ᗩᖇOᑌᑎᗪ TᕼE ᖇᗩIᑎᗷOᗯ time!

This month’s topic is…

Writer’s Block

Yep. I know all about this one, and yet am having difficulty coming up with words to describe what to say about it. Which, I suppose, is writer’s block in a nutshell?

I haven’t written too much in the past couple years. My releases since the start of this decade are:

2020-MARCH-7 | When Are You?
2021-JULY-17 | Plans Book 3 – Change of Plans
2021-AUGUST-10 | Queer Sci-Fi Flash Fiction Contest 8 – Ink
2022-MAY-28 | The Plans Trilogy Box Set
2023-JULY-22 | Luck of the Draw
2024-FEBRUARY-17 | The Faction Box Set

It’s a slim list even if you don’t consider that two of them are box sets of previously written/published stories, and thus don’t really count in a discussion about writer’s block, and another is a 300-word bit of flash fiction.

So that leaves one novel and two novellas that are new material. I suppose we can also count the flash fiction and bonus scenes I write most months for my newsletter. It should be said, though, that I skipped the April edition primarily because I hadn’t gotten around to writing the next installment in the current serial running in my newsletter. It’s April 25 as I write this, and though I am going to try my damndest to get it done for the May newsletter, it’s feeling a bit daunting.

I should also count the Small But Mighty MM Romance group’s annual collaboration project, too. I contributed a couple little scenes to one of those. They’re free, btw, and available to download via links on the SBM Facebook group.

Beyond that, I’m struggling. I will never understand how so many complain about having too many plot bunnies. I think if I were handed a (very) detailed outline and character sketches, I could write the heck out of a story, but coming up with good ideas is more difficult for me.

Oh well. That’s where I am. Not sure if/when the situation will change.
