I’ve joined the Rainbow Snippets group on Facebook. From their description: “Rainbow Snippets is a group for LGBTQ+ authors, readers, and bloggers to gather once a week to share six sentences from a work of fiction–a WIP or a finished work or even a 6-sentence book recommendation (no spoilers please!).” Pretty cool, eh? Don’t forget to “Like” my Facebook page and/or my Facebook profile while you’re over there checking out this fantastic group!
The next scheduled release that I’m participating in is the Love Is Proud charity anthology by JMS Books authors. My contribution is Okay, Then, a very short story set in the timeline of the flashback scenes from ’Til Death Do Us Part, chronicling Sam & Henry’s first date while on a research trip together in the Solomon Islands.
For context, Sam had suggested they walk from their hotel to the Mambo Juice one mile away, but now that they’ve arrived, covered in sweat, he’s regretting it and has apologized to Henry. This is from Henry’s 1st-person POV, and Henry is the first speaker. “He” is Sam:
“Seriously, it’s not a big deal. If I can’t handle one little mile, then I’m a pretty sad case with no business attempting field work.”
He cocked his head slightly to the side and stared curiously at me as I attempted a reassuring smile. His stance relaxed.
“You’re…” He abruptly cut off whatever he was going to say. His eyes widened and I got the distinct impression he’d been thinking aloud, and hadn’t meant to say anything.

“Featuring work from more than forty different authors, Love Is Proud is a collaborative effort whose entire proceeds will go to Equality Florida to benefit the victims and their families of the Pulse nightclub shooting. All the work in the collection, including the editing, has been donated to offset the costs. This stunning anthology will be a charitable keepsake whose message of pride in who and how we love is an enduring testament to all those affected by this tragedy.”

Aw, c’mon. What did he almost say?
I love that we get to see more of these guys, and for a good cause! 🙂
I honestly thought I’d replied to this earlier today. I’m such a scatterbrain! Anyway, I think he’s going to say, “You’re so hot.” or “You’re so easy to talk to.” or “You’re the only man I’ve ever been attracted to.” ha ha. Okay, I’m guessing.
I really liked their exchange.
LOL, I wonder what he was going to say.
*shovels popcorn, waiting, waiting in anticip—* Arrgh. I so need to know what he was going to say.
Wonders what he was going to say.
Now I’m wondering what he was going to say!
