Treadmill Week 81 & What I #amreading – Dusk by T.A. Creech

Treadmill Goals/Tracking

  • Get on the treadmill (or equivalent exercise) daily
  • Pace is fine at 30 min/mile, although I may up it on occasion
  • Time range between 30 minutes and 1 hour per day
  • Distance 1-2 miles per day
  • Read the chosen book, which I won’t allow myself to read outside of my treadmill time, hopefully motivating me to reach or exceed the above goals (exception…at the end of the week where a book is highlighted, I will finish it off-treadmill so I can feature something new the next week)

What I’m Reading

Note: Although I will try to avoid them, my weekly reading snippets may or may not contain spoilers, so read at your own risk.

What I #amreading: Dusk (Expedition 63 (book 1)) by T.A. Creech

My favorite lines this week:

✿✿ SUNDAY ✿✿

“That’s not nice,” John scolded, the involuntary quirk to his mouth a neon sign that he didn’t mean it.

✿✿ MONDAY ✿✿

“You okay, John?” Jason whispered. He didn’t want the others to hear them if John’s problem was personal, though he didn’t see how. They had no way to talk to Ground at the moment.

“No.” John shook all over, a fine tremor making him visibly vibrate in zero gravity. “No, I’m really not.”

✿✿ TUESDAY ✿✿

(Didn’t read today because I mowed, and the book length looks like I might run out before the end of the week if I make a point of sneaking in a read today regardless.)

✿✿ WEDNESDAY ✿✿

He joined Jason in the Zvezda, a thought occurring to him. “You know, there’s no reason to hide our relationship anymore.”

✿✿ THURSDAY ✿✿

It took a lot of discipline to keep the whoop of triumph in his chest when John looked up and grinned, but Jason managed. The smug smile, on the other hand, was impossible to hide.

✿✿ FRIDAY ✿✿

“You know what the best part of this is?”

“What’s that?” Jason whispered.

“My arm won’t go numb if you lie on it all night.” John smiled at the snort his lover made into his shoulder.

✿✿ SATURDAY ✿✿

Light spilled out of the hatchway and illuminated the great sheltered arch of the dock overhead, the other edge black against the black of space. Little pings of metal scattered like birdshot along his whole right side. He closed his eyes and choked on the first voluntary breath to pass his lips since he’d let go of the Station. At least his heart started back up with a renewed gusto.
