I’m so excited to share my shiny new cover and a release date for The Best-Laid Plans. I’ve previously reported that my novella would be out in June, but I now know the specific date is Saturday, June 1. 🎉
I love that it’s coming out so soon in the month. Many thanks to the fabulous Lily at Gay Book Promotions for getting out the signup info for the release blitz and ARC distribution less than 12 hours after I made my apologetic eleventh hour request. If you’re interested in signing up for the blitz and/or receiving a review copy of The Best-Laid Plans (and the novelette it follows, The Contingency Plan), you can sign up here: https://forms.gle/Va7Nk4UjR6775LkK6
Preorder links are still pending, but now that I have a cover, they’ll probably start showing up over the next week or so.
You can read an as-yet-unedited excerpt on my shiny new page for this book, here: https://authoraddisonalbright.com/my-publications/series/series-plans/the-best-laid-plans/
Without further ado, here’s the lovely cover:
…and the BLURB:
A death that wasn’t what it seemed…
A kidnapping that isn’t what it seems…
Time is running out.
The morning after his wedding night, Prince Marcelo thought he’d be embarking on a journey to his own personal fairytale happily ever after with his husband, Efren, the crown prince of Zioneven. But when news arrives indicating his sister’s death wasn’t as accidental as previously thought, that journey becomes fraught with danger.
Enmeshed in political intrigue, death, and a kidnapping that might not be what it seems, will Efren untangle the web of misleading clues in time to save the naïve young man he’s already come to admire, or will Marcelo dig deep to discover a previously untapped inner strength and determination to facilitate his own survival?
As mentioned above, the upcoming release follows a short story/novelette that came out last year in mid-April. The Contingency Plan is a simple, light fantasy, how-they-met with some mild angst where the reader is left able to imagine the fair princes heading out into a fairytale happily ever after. Alas, that HEA gets sidetracked (temporarily, I assure you!) with the new book’s drama on their journey home.
I’ve included enough information in book 2 so anyone who reads it without first reading book 1 shouldn’t be completely lost, but I feel it will be best appreciated and understood if you’ve first read this story…
A sheltered prince. A sudden death. An unexpected choice. How will Prince Marcelo react to discovering he’s The Contingency Plan?
For eighteen years, there has been peace between Sheburat and the kingdom of Zioneven. The untimely death of a princess throws the marriage arrangement—the final phase to complete the terms of the treaty—into disarray, and the contingency plan is put into motion. Now the Crown Prince of Zioneven gets to make his own choice from among the princess’s younger siblings.
As a rare royal son in the matriarchal sovereignty of Sheburat, Prince Marcelo grew up knowing he would never marry. Never. Royal sons did not marry. Period. Except, Prince Efren isn’t from Sheburat, and he has other plans.
The Contingency Plan is also available in JMS Books’ 2018 Top Ten Gay Romance anthology:
