TREADMILL Week 133 & What I #AmReading: The Potent Prince & The Prowler by Zakarrie C. ~ and ~ Made in New York by Ana Newfolk

Treadmill Goals/Tracking

  • Get on the treadmill (or equivalent exercise) daily
  • Pace is fine at 30 min/mile, although I may up it on occasion
  • Time range between 30 minutes and 1 hour per day
  • Distance 1-2 miles per day
  • Read the chosen book, which I won’t allow myself to read outside of my treadmill time, hopefully motivating me to reach or exceed the above goals (exception…at the end of the week where a book is highlighted, I will finish it off-treadmill so I can feature something new the next week)

What I’m Reading

Note: Although I will try to avoid them, my weekly reading snippets may or may not contain spoilers, so read at your own risk.

What I #amreading #1: The Potent Prince & The Prowler (from the Trilogy) by Zakarrie C.

This story ended before the week did, but much as I wanted to continue directly to The Incorrigible & The Count to see if what I suspect is going to happen is what actually happens, I decided it would be best to have a full week dedicated to book 3, so I picked up a shorter story that I’ve been meaning to read for a few months now:

What I #amreading #2: Made in New York by Ana Newfolk

Next week I’ll read the rest of Kris T. Bethke’s Something Like Box Set, the following week will be seven short stories (!), and the week after that (finally) will be The Incorrigible & The Count.

The Duke of Waterford has returned home in the wake of being snatched by the infamous Raff of the Rookeries and feared dead. It had appeared that he’d vanished without trace, save for a singular cocked hat found at the scene of the crime. Nevertheless, it transpires that Padraic, far too foxed to sit atop a horse, had become quite lost and spent the night in a barn, sleeping off his excesses. Apparently.

The Duke himself? Is resigned to the fact that duty must be done. His thirtieth-year looms large and thus, the Potent Prince has a potential Duchess to woo, win, and wed.

In the meantime, Padraic’s misadventures have ensured that he is the talk of the Ton. Where better to brazen it out, than at a Grand Ball, hosted by the notorious gossip, Lady Melbourne? A crush at which his latest scrape would serve as ducal dish of the day, for those ever hungry for tittle-tattle. With nary a hope of getting his just deserts. From the dandiest of highwaymen out on the prowl…

Isaac’s trip to New York just before Christmas was supposed to serve a single purpose, learn as much as he could about running an LGBT Youth Center to take back home and make those much necessary improvements to the youth center he ran in his native Portugal.

Max’s love of the Christmas season was only surpassed by his love for the LGBT Youth Center he volunteered at, and his job as a nurse. One last speech about sexual education for LGBT young people at risk at a conference in the same center was all that separated Max from getting started with his Christmas celebrations.

Isaac didn’t count on needing to be rescued from a fire by a strapping brown-eyed nurse.

Max didn’t count on Christmas coming early in the shape of a curly-haired man with the most bewitching pair of eyes he’d ever seen.

With 48 hours left in New York, Isaac never thought he’d get an offer he just couldn’t resist.

Suddenly, the chill in the air isn’t enough to stoke the fire that now burns in a completely different way to the one that brought Isaac and Max together.

My favorite lines this week…

✿✿ SUNDAY ✿✿ The Potent Prince and the Prowler

“Oh, am I dreaming?” Padraic may have been musing to himself, but Raff wasn’t about to pass up the chance to learn what he now had to know. He would be asylum bound by morn, if matters progressed apace.

“Would you be dreaming about me?” Well, really. Raff was only human.

✿✿ MONDAY ✿✿ The Potent Prince and the Prowler

That done, Padraic attempted to muster a remotely y’gracious expression. Or, even one that didn’t resemble a deer with a bum full of buckshot.

✿✿ TUESDAY ✿✿ The Potent Prince and the Prowler

“You must have driven your nurse to an early grave, Raff groaned, slamming his eyes shut.

“She is very well, thank you. Rather too partial to the gin for her own good, but she’s soldiering on splendidly.” Padraic sniffed, expecting a pithy riposte.

✿✿ WEDNESDAY ✿✿ The Potent Prince and the Prowler

“You trust me not to unmask you…because I’ve already proved that I have no intention of doing so. That is not the same as trusting me with your truth.

✿✿ THURSDAY ✿✿ The Potent Prince and the Prowler

“I’m a Duke, not a goddamn Viking, you jingle-brained blackguard. D’you suppose I’m intending to rape and pillage my way into their bed?

“On the contrary,” Raff retorted. “Charm, flirt, and flutter your way into it.”

“Flutter?” The demon had the audacity to appear puzzled.

“I refuse point blank to believe you are unaware of your own weapons, yer Grace. As I know to my cost.”

✿✿ FRIDAY ✿✿ Made in New York

I looked to my left and nearly jerked in surprise. Sitting back on the chair next to my bed, asleep, was what looked like a blond-haired, broad-shouldered man wearing the ugliest Christmas sweater I’d ever seen.

✿✿ SATURDAY ✿✿ Made in New York

I mean, he was really nice to me, and his eyes sometimes went that dark brown that looked like they could devour me whole. But what did I know? It had been such a long time since I’d been with someone I wasn’t sure I could spot interest if it squeezed my but and stroked my dick.

  1. Oh thank you! 🌹❤🌹 Tis such an honour to happen upon myself here.🌺

‘…to see if what I suspect is going to happen is what actually happens…’
The ‘what’ did seem a smidge inevitable😋 So…I hoped that ‘how’ the bejeezus he manages to pull it off (without being dirked to death) proves the fun part.😇
    Thank you, soso much.💞

    1. That’s what it’s all about to me. Twists can be fun, but I’m perfectly happy with the result being what I suspect, because it’s the journey getting there that makes it all worthwhile!

      1. Aw…thank you so much💝 I oft find myself hoping that my mishaps along the way make it worth setting out (IRL too) That I manage to arrive at all always seems a bit of a miracle to me .😳🙈

        1. Absolutely worth it!
I adore Raff and Padraic. Their inner musings crack me up and make me go “aww” at the same time. All your characters are like that. You manage to make them all likeable and adorable despite their flaws.

  2. You’re planning your reading so far in advance? I could never do that, I’m a mood reader and can’t decide so far ahead. What if I don’t feel like it? 😀

    1. Often I’m figuring it out on Sunday before I hop on the treadmill for the new week, but setting up the blog posts can take a little time and I wanted to do as much as possible for the blog in advance of Camp NaNoWriMo, so I planned out through the beginning of August. Mostly continuation stuff I knew I wanted to read anyway.
