READ AROUND THE RAINBOW ~ What’s my most romantic book? #RAtR
It’s the last Friday of the month and you know what that means! It’s ᖇEᗩᗪ ᗩᖇOᑌᑎᗪ TᕼE ᖇᗩIᑎᗷOᗯ time!

This month’s topic is…
What’s my most romantic book?…
(it is the love month, after all) ❤️
I’m going a little off the rails with this, in that I’m going to apply my own definition of romance as opposed to what might more commonly be considered romantic. Generally, I like to think of the little things we do for each other that aren’t gifts of flowers or jewelry or whatever. Grand gestures are also nice, but I also prefer those to be of the not-a-public-declaration-of-love variety.
So, what is my most romantic book? If I go with a more traditional definition…romantic as in fit’s the genre ideal of a story that is primarily about the relationship going from zero to twu wuv in the course of the story without a strong background story going on? I’ll go with To Love and To Cherish for that definition. It goes from a marriage of convenience to solid love, with a detour through amnesia along the way.
Or, another of my stories that goes from zero (arranged marriage, this time) to solid love (twice, since I love me some amnesia trope) is The Plans Trilogy. There’s a lot more in the way of a background story to that one. By the way, this trilogy box set is on sale for only 99¢ for a few more days. The sale goes away at the end of February.
In both of the above, the relationships progress with the help of little things the MCs do for each other. Some of those things are not traditionally considered to be romantic gestures, but some are.
But, to me, true romance can be more about showing depth of feeling with a willingness to turn your whole life upside down for the sake of your significant other—or more widely, the family you’ve created together. So I’ll go with that definition as my final answer to the question of the month.
Although When Are You? is more about the story that’s happening to the MCs than pointedly about their relationship, they both are willing to give up absolutely every creature comfort and sense of security they have to stay with each other and save their family, and to me, that’s at the heart of what romance truly is.

Great choices from your stories there, Addison, and I totally agree with you that small heartfelt services are more romantic than the sweeping gestures with hearts and flowers! ❤️
Thank you!
I’m so with you on the not-a-public-declaration-of-love variety! 🙂
Yep. I would consider being the recipient of one of those to be a nightmare.
I had a quiet snigger at the idea of Twu Wuv. 😀
😁 I was imagining that scene from The Princess Bride.

Just popping in to say how much I love the Plans stories. <3
Thank you so much! ❤️ it took years for their whole story to drag itself out of me, but I’m happy with how it turned out. ❤️
