Treadmill Week 14 & What I #amreading – Starting with the Unexpected by Andi Van

Treadmill Goals:

  • Get on the treadmill (or equivalent exercise) daily
  • Pace is fine at 30 min/mile, although I may up it on occasion
  • Time range between 30 minutes and 1 hour per day
  • Distance 1-2 miles per day
  • Read the chosen book, which I won’t allow myself to read outside of my treadmill time, hopefully motivating me to reach or exceed the above goals (the only exception to this is Saturday nights, if I want to finish off a book so I can start a fresh on for the new week)

Note: Although I will try to avoid them, my daily #amreading updates may or may not contain spoilers, so read at your own risk.

What I #amreading: Starting with the Unexpected by Andi Van

starting-with-the-unexpected My favorite lines this week:

  • SUNDAY: “I just got dumped,” I told him. “By a girl. Apparently I cheated on her with her sister.”
  • MONDAY: “I’m not pacing,” I said, pacing the length of the living room toward the kitchen. “I’m just making sure you haven’t left any of your nasty hetero porn out. Wouldn’t want to traumatize him.”
  • TUESDAY: “Stay still,” he told me. He had that look on his face that I recognized as trying to look calm while panicking inside. My mom had that look on her face a lot while I was in high school.
  • WEDNESDAY: “Did you warn Marcus that your mom will love him and hug him and feed him and call him George?”
  • THURSDAY: The sigh of relief I let out was probably over-the-top, considering it made Marcus laugh, but I just let us lean against each other as I wrapped my arms around his waist. “Thank you.”
  • FRIDAY: “I’ll go with you,” I said. I got up from the floor and offered him a hand up. “Dad’s built like a brick wall, but I promise he won’t eat you. His doctor made him lay off of devouring the innocent because they’re full of cholesterol.”
  • SATURDAY: He stood up and sauntered across the space, the cotton candy in his hand. When he got up next to me, he held it up, and eyed it and then my hair. “Yeah. It matches.”

    1. Thanks! I’m plugging away.

Yes! It’s excellent. Lots of humor, and the drama is mostly external (and that which isn’t is handled well). I think it’s right up your alley, and I recommend moving it to the top of your pile! 📚

          1. Finished it! It was awesome, really loved the characters (all of them), and Zach’s sense of humor was great. Thank you for recommending it!! <3
