May 12 2017 Prompt – Adventures with Harrison and Mason #FlashFic #FlashFictionFriday

I came across this list of writing prompts for May, 2017 on the Writer’s Write page and thought I’d give it a whirl. I’m going to try for a series of drabbles (precisely 100-word scenes) that will flow together featuring the characters from my Adventures with Harrison and Mason flash fiction story scenes.

May-Prompts

May 12, 2017 — Chalkboard

Also includes “Insurance”, left in the comments of last week’s Flash Fiction Friday post.

(Harrison’s 3rd-person POV)

“This outlaw doesn’t want a burger after all,” Mason pointed at the chalkboard with the daily lunch special. “I’m gonna get the bistro club sandwich.”

“I still want a burger,” Jaxon said. “We’re going to the park next, right Daddy?”

“Right,” Harrison said. “We’re going to watch Pop’s best friend from when he was your age play softball.”

“Yeah, I remember.” Jaxon’s jaw dropped as he stared at the velvet Elvis painting hanging on the wall at the Bad Art Bistro. “Did he grow up to be a lawyer, like Pop?”

“Nope.” Gramps shook his head. “He’s my insurance agent.”

To be continued tomorrow using ‘Cayon deep.’

All the drabbles in this series using the May, 2017 prompts can be found here (note: to read them in order, you’ll need to scroll to the bottom of the category list and read up from there).

Feel free to leave a prompt word in the comments for me to include in next week’s Flash Fiction Friday post.

  1. Lol, it’s time for lunch here and my stomach literally rumbled when I read this!! 🙂

So next Friday’s word is “calibri”. As in the font? Or is it supposed to be calibre? Or maybe I’m putting far too much thought into this. Let’s just go with “cocktail” so the daddies can have a drink next Friday 😉

    1. LOL. I’m interpreting it as written, which is the font. I imagine it might be a typo meant to be calibre (kinda like “cayon” is probably meant to be “canyon”). “Cocktail” is a good word that can go with either. 🙂 Thank you!

I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with “calibri” and figured it was doomed to be a boring post, but “cocktail” gives it hope—they can be typing something while tipsy and having fun with fonts. 🙂

      1. Yay, I’m back!! 🙂
And I’ve literally done that: been tipsy and had fun with fonts! That sounds awful written out like that, maybe I shouldn’t have admitted to that 😀
