Treadmill Week 97 & What I #amreading – I Wore Heels to the Apocalypse by C.H. Clepitt

Treadmill Goals/Tracking

  • Get on the treadmill (or equivalent exercise) daily
  • Pace is fine at 30 min/mile, although I may up it on occasion
  • Time range between 30 minutes and 1 hour per day
  • Distance 1-2 miles per day
  • Read the chosen book, which I won’t allow myself to read outside of my treadmill time, hopefully motivating me to reach or exceed the above goals (exception…at the end of the week where a book is highlighted, I will finish it off-treadmill so I can feature something new the next week)

My favorite lines this week:

✿✿ SUNDAY ✿✿

“I say,” yes, he really said ‘I say’, and he sounded like the kind of plummy man that just stepped out of a 1950’s movie. “Do you need some help?”

✿✿ MONDAY ✿✿

I felt that big annoying lump come up in my throat, you know that one you get when you’re watching a film and something intensely sad happens, but you’re with people, so you don’t want to cry, so the lump sits there getting bigger and bigger, until it really hurts.

✿✿ TUESDAY ✿✿

“He didn’t blaspheme, blaspheme means to take the Lord’s name in vain, and he said hell. You’re allowed to be rude about hell, cos it’s a bad place,” Darren said helpfully. He was an expert on all religions because he liked getting into arguments with people on the internet, and he liked to know what he was talking about. Personally, I think life is too short to spend your time arguing, and am quite happy as a general rule to agree to disagree with people.

✿✿ WEDNESDAY ✿✿

“Whatcha say that we leave him somewhere as soon as we get the chance?”

“I don’t know, would he survive?” I wasn’t opposed to the idea in principle, but felt that we had to include everyone since there were so few of us left. Also, I worried that abandoning Darren would make me seem like a bad person, and I really wanted to be a good person, even if I was only the comic relief.

✿✿ THURSDAY ✿✿

A shrill cry from beyond the trees alerted us to Petal’s presence.

“What the hell is that?” Sam hissed, drawing a knife from her belt and springing to her feet.

“That’s Petal” I couldn’t not be bothered to hide, what was the point? Like a bad smell Petal kept coming back.

✿✿ FRIDAY ✿✿

“Let them in,” Peter said. “We aren’t going to escape like this, I say we fight our way out!”

“What?” That was actually the worst idea I thought I had ever heard in my life, ever.

“Awesome idea, I could use some action!” Tyrone ripped his shirt off revealing an incredibly toned torso sporting a series of poorly spelt tattoos.

✿✿ SATURDAY ✿✿

“Carp Deem, Baby! It’s gunna be my new motto!”

“Kerry?”

“Yeah?”

“Never call me baby again.”

“Yeah, I know, it was just something I was trying, didn’t work. sorry.”
