#TREADMILL Week 140 & What I #AmReading – Crying for the Moon by Sarah Madison

Treadmill Goals/Tracking

  • Get on the treadmill (or equivalent exercise) daily
  • Pace is fine at 30 min/mile, although I may up it on occasion
  • Time range between 30 minutes and 1 hour per day
  • Distance 1-2 miles per day
  • Read the chosen book, which I won’t allow myself to read outside of my treadmill time, hopefully motivating me to reach or exceed the above goals (exception…at the end of the week where a book is highlighted, I will finish it off-treadmill so I can feature something new the next week)

What I #amreading: Crying for the Moon by Sarah Madison

Vampire Alexei Novik may have the teeth and the coffin, but he’s given up the lifestyle for an old fixer-upper in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Weary of his past, Alex plans to keep to himself, but it seems his sexy, new neighbor, Tate, can’t take the hint—a good thing, since it turns out he’s handy for all kinds of things around the house. Tate even gets along with Alex’s werewolf friends, though one of them pointedly reminds Alex that their friendship is a bad idea.

If a platonic relationship is a bad idea, the growing attraction between Tate and Alex is a disaster waiting to happen. Loving Tate will draw him into Alex’s dangerous world, and Alex is torn between having the relationship he’s always craved and keeping Tate safe. Tate won’t take no for an answer, however, and seems to handle everything Alex can throw at him without blinking. Just when he thinks things might turn out all right after all, Alex’s past catches up with him—forcing him to make a terrible choice.

My favorite lines this week…

✿✿ SUNDAY ✿✿

Nick and Peter shared a glance, their expressions full of amused glee—like twelve-year-old boys who had just heard a fart joke.

✿✿ MONDAY ✿✿

You sound like a city boy.” Tate grinned. “Not used to fixing things on your own, eh? I can tell you, the only two things you need in your tool kit around here are duct tape and baling twine.

✿✿ TUESDAY ✿✿

For the first time in his entire existence, all the claptrap that humans made about soul mates finally made sense to Alex. The realization annoyed the hell out of him. He nodded abruptly and started walking again.

✿✿ WEDNESDAY ✿✿

“It’s complicated,” Alex said, regret evident in his voice.

“It always is.” Tate pushed himself off the car and gave Alex an encouraging smile. “And yet, it’s usually not as complicated as you think it is.”

✿✿ THURSDAY ✿✿

“Interesting,” Tate murmured as he processed what he was hearing. “What about the whole ‘silver bullet’ thing?” He made the appropriate finger quotes.

“Have you ever tried to fire a silver bullet?” Peter made a dismissive noise. “The metal’s too soft to be accurate. That whole Lone Ranger thing is a washout.”

✿✿ FRIDAY ✿✿

“Cute doesn’t cut it with me, Alex said with fond firmness. “You’re not coming in the house.”

EPT narrowed his eyes to half slits before stalking off, tail in the air and shuddering slightly, highly affronted.

✿✿ SATURDAY ✿✿

“Nick and the others went on a food run.” Julie’s pupils widened, and this time Alex snorted aloud. “Chinese. Food, that is; not people.” He grinned when Julie gave a nervous little laugh. “Tate had an emergency, but everyone should be back in a bit.”
