RAINBOW SNIPPETS – Nov. 9, 2019 – When Are You?

I’ve joined the Rainbow Snippets group on Facebook. From their description: “Rainbow Snippets is a group for LGBTQ+ authors, readers, and bloggers to gather once a week to share six sentences from a work of fiction–a WIP or a finished work or even a 6-sentence book recommendation (no spoilers please!).” Pretty cool, eh? Don’t forget to “Like” my Facebook page and/or my Facebook profile while you’re over there checking out this fantastic group!

This week I’m snipping from my current WiP, When Are You?

I don’t have a blurb yet, but it’s a time travel story. These are the opening lines, so no context needed. The story is unedited, so please squint as needed.

From Leo’s 3rd-person POV:

When Are You? - 2019-Nov. 9

Prologue: Newlyweds

Vincent Allen Bailey.” A wince supplemented Leo’s grumble. Damn, but Vinnie’s elbow was sharp, and he totally deserved the full name treatment for digging that pointy bone into Leo’s ribs. Even so, Leo grinned as he rubbed the sore spot.

Vinnie snorted. “You’re worse than me.”

Leo snickered and didn’t bother to pretend he didn’t know what Vinnie was talking about, let alone deny it. Bailey. It had been Leo’s surname since birth, but Vinnie had only acquired it a week earlier.

  1. Oh I love the snippet😻 They’re adorable🥰

Eek! The full name treatment 😧 😹 But yay…the bestest real reason for wielding it sooo well: Vinnie had only acquired it a week earlier.❤️

    1. Thank you! 💖 This story is flowing well (at least when real life doesn’t jump in the way of my writing time 😁)

    1. Thank you! Hopefully the dominant emotion in the story (ultimately) will be more like WTF!!! You did NOT just do that! 😁

  2. Aw, this is charming and funny already – and I LOVE the way you let us know they were married, that was beautifully done. Can’t help feeling a little sense of curiosity / foreboding though thanks to the title…
